Standard is the plate on nearly every car that leaves a NSW dealership — black on yellow, factory issue, zero personalisation. It's also the plate most owners never think about sizing, right up until they want to upgrade the bracket and nothing off-the-shelf sits flush.
The Size
NSW standard plates measure 372mm (w) x 134mm (h) — the full-height factory format, embossed "NEW SOUTH WALES" along the bottom. It's the reference point every other NSW format is measured against.
Standard vs Slimline vs Euro vs Historic in NSW
- Standard: 372mm x 134mm — full-height factory issue
- Slimline (front): 372mm x 84mm
- Slimline (rear): 372mm x 107mm
- Euro style: 520mm x 110mm — wider format for European recesses
- Historic (conditional rego): 250mm x 100mm — smaller, common on classics
If you're coming from a slimline or historic plate back to standard — or vice versa — don't assume the old bracket carries over. The height difference alone is enough to leave gaps or an uneven sit.
Why a Factory-Fit Plate Still Needs a Bracket
Standard is the easiest NSW format to mount — the factory bumper recess and mounting points were built for exactly this size. But "fits" and "sits properly" aren't the same thing. A generic bracket or plastic surround still leaves visible screw heads and gaps at the edges; a bracket sized to 372 x 134mm and matched to your car's existing mounting points sits the plate flush with no new holes required.
Which FLX Bracket Fits
Our NSW Standard collection is built to the 372mm x 134mm format, using your car's existing factory mounting points. Running something other than standard? Check the NSW Slimline guide or measure first with our measurement guide.
