Vic Slimline Number Plate Brackets & Mounting Solutions
What Are VIC Slimline Plates?
A slimline plate is a narrower version of the standard Victorian number plate. It carries the same letters and numbers, just in a tighter, lower-profile format that sits closer to the lines of the car instead of taking up a full-width mounting panel. Slimline is a sequential, non-personalised style — the combination is assigned, not chosen — and it's issued in black with white characters. Some other Victorian plate styles also offer a slimline option, but it isn't available for motorcycles.
Because a slimline plate is physically smaller than a standard plate, it needs a mount sized to match — a standard bracket or housing leaves gaps and looks wrong. That's the problem this collection solves.
VIC Slimline Sizes
Slimline plates come in a few different widths depending on how many characters are on the plate:
- 3–4 character slimline — 250mm (w) x 100mm (h)
- 5 character slimline — 317mm (w) x 100mm (h)
- 6 character slimline — 372mm (w) x 100mm (h)
Getting the size right matters more with slimline than with a standard plate — because the mount is visible around the full perimeter of a low-profile plate, a mismatch of even a few millimetres shows. Measure your actual plate before ordering rather than guessing from your rego papers.
Mounting a Slimline Plate Properly
A slimline plate looks its best sitting flush and centred, with nothing bulky framing it. FLX mounts are CNC-lasered from high-grade aluminium to the exact slimline dimensions above, so the plate sits flat with no flex, no rattle and no daylight showing behind it. Each one attaches using your vehicle's existing factory mounting points — no drilling into the plate, no new holes in the bumper — and comes with black stainless hardware so the fit stays tight through everyday driving.
Not sure which size your plate is, or whether your car needs a different mount for front vs rear? The Fitment Guide below sorts it in under a minute.
FAQ
What's the difference between a slimline plate and a standard plate?
A standard plate is wider and taller with a larger border. Slimline trims that footprint down so the plate sits tighter to the car and takes up less of the bumper or grille area.
How do I know which slimline size I have?
Measure the plate itself — width and height in millimetres — rather than relying on the plate type name. The three common slimline widths are 250mm, 317mm and 372mm, all at 100mm high.
Can I fit a slimline plate without drilling?
Yes. FLX mounts use the mounting points already built into your vehicle, so there's no need to drill into the plate or the bumper.
Do slimline plates come in different colours?
The standard non-personalised slimline issue is black with white characters. Some personalised styles offer a slimline option in other finishes.
Will a slimline mount fit my car?
Our slimline mounts are built to the exact plate dimensions and attach to existing factory points, so they suit most makes and models. If you're unsure about your specific vehicle, get in touch before you order.
