VIC Standard Number Plate Brackets & Mounting Solutions
What Are VIC Standard Plates?
A standard Victorian number plate is what's issued with every new car and motorcycle registration — the full-size, full-width plate most drivers run front and back. It carries the state slogan printed across the bottom centre of the plate (slimline and some other styles don't include this), and it's built to the regular Australian passenger plate dimensions.
Because it's the most common format on the road, it's also the one aftermarket bumpers, tailgates and grilles are designed around — which sounds like it should make mounting simple, but factory holders are usually bulky, off-centre, or held on with clips that crack after a few years of vibration and weather.
VIC Standard Plate Size
- Standard passenger plate — 372mm (w) x 134mm (h)
This is the size used across the vast majority of Victorian passenger vehicles, front and rear. If you're running a modified front bumper, an aftermarket bar, or a European import with a narrower plate recess, check the actual opening on your car before ordering — some setups need a size-matched or repositioned mount rather than a straight factory-spec one.
Mounting a Standard Plate Properly
A standard plate looks its best sitting flush, square and centred — not tilted, not floating half an inch proud of the panel. FLX mounts are CNC-lasered from high-grade aluminium to the full 372mm x 134mm standard format, so the plate sits flat with no flex or rattle. Each one attaches using your vehicle's existing factory mounting points — no drilling into the plate, no new holes in the bumper — and comes with black stainless hardware to keep it locked in through daily driving.
Running a different format front and rear (a slimline front with a standard rear, for example)? The Fitment Guide below will point you to the right mount for each end of the car.
FAQ
What size is a standard VIC number plate?
372mm wide by 134mm high — the regular passenger plate size issued with most Victorian vehicle registrations.
Do standard and slimline plates use the same mount?
No. A slimline plate is narrower, so it needs a mount sized to the slimline format, not the standard one. Check your plate's actual dimensions before choosing.
Can I mount a standard plate without drilling?
Yes. FLX mounts use the mounting points already built into your vehicle, so there's no need to drill into the plate or the bumper.
Will a standard mount fit my car?
FLX standard mounts are built to the full-size plate dimensions and attach to existing factory points, so they suit most makes and models. If you're running an aftermarket bumper or an import with a smaller plate recess, get in touch before you order to confirm fitment.
Why does my factory plate holder look loose or crooked?
Most factory holders are basic plastic clips designed for cost, not fit — they loosen with vibration and don't hold the plate perfectly square. A dedicated aluminium mount fixes both issues at once.
