VIC 725 — $386,000 all-in. A general-issue three-digit on a "VIC" prefix pulling north of a third of a million. The 8.8% premium would have added $32,560 uncapped — the $16k cap saved the buyer over sixteen grand on its own. That cap matters more the higher you bid, and it's why the big numbers land at Trading Garage.
What It Tells You
Numeric heritage formats are still the strongest part of the Victorian market. Two of this week's top three — 8.818 and 5.665 — are tight four-digit combinations, and the six-digit runners (200.002, 533.332, 166.155) all found buyers. These are blue-chip assets, and they're trading like it.
If you own one of these formats — 3-digit, 4-digit, 5-digit, 6-digit heritage — it's worth remembering what you're actually carrying around on the back of your car. A plate that clears $50k–$386k at auction shouldn't be mounted with a dealer's drill kit and a couple of self-tappers through your bumper.
